Ideally located on a quiet and airy site, the Hanakee Lodge is close to the village of Atuona (less than 5 minutes by car) and 20 minutes from the airport.
On the hillside above the bay of Atuona, the Hanakee Lodge deploys its 14 typically Polynesian bungalows to offer visitors a unique and exotic stay, accompanied by an attentive and pleasant staff.
Overlooking the Pacific Ocean and facing Mount Temetiu, the Hanakee Lodge remains confidential and comfortable, echoing the island of Hiva Oa, captivating and warm.
From the terrace of one of the bungalows or from the terrace, the restaurant, or from a lounger by the infinity pool, the view from the Hanakee Lodge is breathtaking: a show of every moment that exalts Gauguin's colors and hums Brel's poems.
The bungalows:
Sculptures, tapas and ornaments by Marquesan craftsmen are elegantly presented in the rooms of Hanakee Lodge.
Nothing else between you and the ocean than your private terrace overlooking the wide and Atuona Bay.
Three types of air-conditioned bungalows of 39m²:
- 5 with mountain view,
- 6 with ocean view (including two equipped for people with reduced mobility),
- 3 Premium ocean view.
The Hiva Oa Hanakee Lodge's restaurant offers a large, bright room with floor-to-ceiling windows. In addition, a nice terrace will allow you to eat outside with a magnificent view of the ocean.
You will be able to enjoy one of the cocktails offered at the adjoining bar, and taste the local or international gastronomy.
Breakfast is served from 07:00am to 09:00am, lunch from 12:00pm to 2:00pm and dinner from 7:00pm to 9:00pm.
Note the Sunday brunch served from 7:00am to 2:00pm.
The pool is free access to the hotel guests.
Many excursions are to be made to Hiva Oa, as for example the visit of the village of Atuona with the discovery of the cultural center Paul Gauguin and Jacques Brel and the cemetery on the heights of the village which shelters the last residences of the two artists.

The 6 Mountain View bungalow perched hillside, nestled in the surrounding countryside with views over the bay of Tahauku, the valley of Tehueto and Mount Temetiu. Each has the individual touch of one of twenty local artists and sculptors. All feature an outdoor terrace, air conditioning, television, video, IDD telephone, hair dryer, mini-bar, tea and coffee making facilities and an in-room safe.
Ocean View Bungalow
6 Bay View Family Suites, 6 Mountain View and 8 Premium Ocean View Bungalows are perched hillside, nestled in the surrounding countryside.
